Genbook is an Australian-American venture launched soon after current CEO Rody Moore founded the company with $2.2 million from Neo Technology Ventures, a firm from Down Under, in 2006. Mr. Moore graduated from Queenland University of Technology, worked as an investment banker for 10 years, and has written articles for the Huffington Post about managing negative online reviews and real-time business analytics. His connections to Australia are evident in Genbook’s setup: Though headquartered in San Francisco, its R&D takes place in Sydney. The small company is made up of a dozen or two employees, including Chief Architect Ross Lamont. Marc Woodward of Neo Technology Ventures is on Genbook’s board of directors.

In 2011, Genbook announced it had passed a threshold of 10 million appointments booked through the platform in the US. At that time, Genbook claimed to have about 5,000 customers. In 2012, the company released its business analytics and customer reviews features. It has a broad customer base and an established reputation.
